It is a research group from the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, Chile, that has been studying the relationship between Feedback, Writing and Dialogue (RED) in the learning processes of academic and professional writing at the university.
Feedback takes different forms in the teaching-learning process . It can be given in writing, orally, by audio, face-to-face, group meetings, among others. Feedback in the form of Written Comments offered by a specialist during the writing process has been the focus of our research.
We base ourselves on the idea that Written Commentaries not only offer information to help improve a writing in compliance with the rules of the language, but are also a resource that favors the transmission of complex and specialized discursive genres to those who are in the process of learning such genres.
The results of our research have allowed us to understand the comments offered by university professors in different areas , to establish common and different features according to different variables. It has also allowed us to implement a teaching method to improve the practices of university professors in the teaching processes of professional and academic written performances.
